Marinel Schnizer Henderson, 85, of Robinson, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on December 1, 2022. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, December 9, at First Baptist Church, Robinson, Texas. There will be a come-and-go visitation from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, December 8, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home.
Marinel was born in Konawa, Oklahoma, on March 2, 1937, to Carl and Gladys Floyd. She graduated from University High School. Marinel studied at 4-C Business College and worked in the banking field for almost 40 years while maintaining company bookkeeping for Robinson Road Greenhouse, the family business. While in high school, she met Walter Schnizer, and they were married on February 20, 1953. While raising her family, she and Walter were members of Meadowbrook Baptist Church and were dedicated and involved in many mission trips, choir, and leadership roles.
Following Walter’s death, Marinel continued her work in the church, and later met and married Lester “Ray” Henderson on April 2, 1993. They later became members of First Baptist Robinson, where she served faithfully until her death.
Marinel had many passions including flower arranging, cooking and decorating and used these passions in the community and the church throughout her life. She loved poetry and taking time to write about the world around her and important aspects of her life. She combined her love of music with her poetry and composed a song that was performed in church. She started playing golf later in life and was an avid golfer taking many vacations to golf courses with friends. She loved her church, family and community and was always the first to volunteer. She was kind, generous, compassionate, loving and always had a smile on her face. She never met a stranger and always welcomed everyone into her home.
Marinel was preceded in death by Walter, Ray, and her son Kyle Schnizer.
Marinel is survived by her daughters, Cindy Ferguson and husband Harold, Shellie Toby and husband Odan, and Kim Hardin, along with ten grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
A special thanks to Baylor Scott and White Hillcrest 6 South staff and Medical ICU staff. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to First Baptist Church, Robinson, Tx.
