Maria Martinez

Maria G.Castro-Martinez (Mrs.Mary), age 59, of Lacy Lakeview, entered heaven’s gate on Sunday, May 1, 2016 at St. Catherine's in Waco from cervical cancer. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church on Friday, May 6 at 10 AM with interment immediately following at Oakwood Cemetery. A visitation will be Thursday, May 5, from 5-6 pm with Rosary to follow at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Dr., Waco.

Mary was born March 5, 1957 to Felix and Eleanor Castro Sr. She enjoyed working with students and providing a positive impact on their lives. Mary retired from Connally ISD after many years. She enjoyed gardening, collecting frog decor, and especially spending time with her granddaughters. Mary was a kindhearted, hard-working, generous caring person.

She was preceded in death by her father, Felix Castro Sr, and brother, Anastasio Castro.

Mary leaves behind to cherish her memory a son, Gilbert Martinez Jr and wife Priscilla; daughters, Amber Martinez and Hugo Resendiz; Marissa Rivera and husband Alfonso all of Lacy Lakeview; granddaughters, Desiree Martinez of Moody; Mariah Torres and Alaina Martinez from Lacy Lakeview; brothers, Steve Castro, Ernest Castro and Nickole Hayes, Felix Castro Jr and Tammy Casiano, all of West; sisters, Alfonsa Wilson and Ron of Woodburn, Oregon, Julie Zahirniak and Patrick of Waco,
Nancy Molina of Dallas, Brenda King and Mark of Portland, Oregon, Tina Kreder and fiancé Kevin Wilson of Waco, Marina Castro of Dallas, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and her beloved dog Poncho.

Pallbearers will be; Felix Castro Jr., Ernest Castro, Stuart Castro, Mike Bentura, Alfonso Rivera, Kevin Wilson, Patrick and Anthony Zahirniak. Honorary pallbearers; Damian Eismann Jr, Aaron Molina, Anthony Molina, Zachary Molina, Hugo Resendiz.
