Maria Jesus Lopez

Maria (Mary) Jesus Lopez of Robinson, Texas passed away on August 25, 2024 at the age of 93. She was born on January 15, 1931 in Guanica, Puerto Rico to Manuel Sanchez and Carmen Nazario. Mary moved to Chicago as a teenager, where she met her future husband, Ignacio Lopez. Mary and Ignacio married on January 7, 1960. They gave birth to a son, Jose, in 1964 and moved place to place including Texas, Washington, and California. Ignacio and Mary moved to Robinson in the 1990s where Mary continued to reside after Ignacio’s passing in 2021.

Mary enjoyed music, Rangers baseball, gardening, cooking (especially for others) and visiting with friends and family. She enjoyed visiting their second home in Puerto Rico and family there. She is survived by her son Jose, several beloved nieces and nephews, and her sweet dog Cindy. Mary was dearly loved by her friends and family and will be missed.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2024 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Pecan Grove Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Waco Animal Birth Control Clinic or any other worthy cause in Mary’s memory.
