A graveside service will take place at 10 am Saturday, September 26 at Cooper Creek Cemetery in Denton, Texas.
Margaret was born to Newt Ray and Margaret Barr on July 15, 1938. She spent 24 years teaching first grade in the public school system and was actively involved in many aspects of church life. She was a talented seamstress, pianist, and organist, but her deepest joy was being Momma to her girls and Nana to her grandchildren. She was a gracious Southern lady whose infectious smile touched all who met her, even in her last days.
Margaret is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, David Barr, Marshall Ray Barr; and nephew Chris Barr Cannon.
Margaret is survived by her husband of 59 years, Philip; daughters, Cherisa and husband Sammy York of Kilgore, Rebecca and husband David Guess of Waco; grandchildren, Colin and wife Cynthia York, Barrett York, Braden Guess, and Natalie Guess; great-grandchild, Sarah York; and best friend of 71 years, Cherry Potts.
The family would like to thank all of the caregivers at Providence Hospice and Stoney Brook for their compassion and kindness.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Providence Hospice.
