Margaret R. Macias, 94, of Waco, TX, passed away peacefully at home Thursday, May 13, 2021. Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, May 20, at Oakwood Cemetery, 2124 S 5th St, Waco, TX, with Dr. Craig Klempnauer officiating. The family will receive visitors from 6 – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 19, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Drive, Waco. At the family’s request, masks are required for all services for Margaret.
Margaret was born July 20, 1926, to Filiberto and Margarita Perez Rodriguez in Waco, TX. She married Manuel L. Macias, Sr. on June 8, 1946. He preceded her in death in 2003. Margaret worked for many years as a teacher’s aide at Waco Independent School District. Those who knew Margaret will remember her for her spunky sense of humor, joking around and laughing. They will definitely miss the big homemade tortillas she made for them. She loved spending time with her family. Dancing, listening to music, going to parties and especially coffee and cookie breaks were some of her favorite things to do.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Manuel; sisters, Casimira Beltran, Rosie Dominguez, Tommie Carrizales; brothers, Filiberto Rodriguez, Jr., Isidoro Rodriguez, and Jose Maria Rodriguez; her sons, Mario L. Macias, Sr., Angel D. Macias; great-granddaughter, Macy Jimenez; two half-sisters, Juanita R. Martinez, Josephina Pedroza.
She is survived by her children, Diana Villegas and husband Henry, of Waco, Stella Jimenez and husband Joe, of Waco, and Manuel Macias, Jr. and wife Lori, of Galveston; 16 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Adrian Villegas, Mark Villegas Sr., Joey Jimenez, Mario Jimenez, Ruben Torres Sr., Chris Rodriguez Sr., Mark Villegas Jr., and Joseph Garcia Jr. Honorary bearers are Victor Garced; Mario Macias Jr., Max Macias, Angel Gabriel Garced, Richard Garced, Ruben Torres Jr., Andrue Torres, Jayson Torres, Ryan Jimenez, Colton Jimenez, Eric Jimenez, Chris Rodriguez Jr., Noah Rodriguez, and Samuel Rodriguez.
A reception will follow the service at the Cen-Tex Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, 915 La Salle Ave, Waco, TX.
