Manuel Garcia 73, of Moody, passed away at his home Saturday, July 6, 2013. A memorial service will be held 3 pm Thursday, July 11, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home 3124 Robinson Dr. with Deacon Jesse Garza officiating. The family will receive visitors from 2pm to 3 pm before services.
Manuel was born June 21, 1940, in Pontiac, Michigan to Manuel Garcia Sr. and Mamie Guerra. He retired from General Motors, in Lake Orion with over 30 years of service. He was an avid bowler, scoring a 200. He enjoyed fishing, farming, but most of all family. He loved children and children loved him. He was a devout Catholic, and was a member of St. Eugene Catholic Church in McGregor. He was formally from Clarkston.
Preceded in death by father, Manuel Garcia; mother, Mamie Valenzuela and step-father Miguel; brothers, John, Guadalupe, and Jesse “moose” Garcia; sisters, Mary “Santos” Martinez, Mary Rodriguez, and Virginia Wilson.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Garcia; children, Geri Garten and husband Carl, Christopher Garcia and wife Robin, Matthew Garcia, Ann Cavanaugh-Garcia and husband Todd, and Mark Garcia; step-children, Edward De La Rosa, David De La Rosa, and wife Barbara, and Monika Salinas and husband John; brother, William Garcia and wife Threasa; sister, Florence Garcia, and Dolores Farrell; grandchildren, Amber and husband Adam, Alicia and husband Samuel, Fredrick, Jerame, Joshua, Zackery, Gregory, Nicholas, Kayla, Todd Jr., and Emma; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Olivia, Gabriel, Dominic, Joseph, Adam, Alyxandria, Austin, Veronica, and Aden; adopted family, Señior y Señora, Hijinio Torres y famillia.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Manuel Garcia’s name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 50, Memphis TN, 38101-0050.
