Manuel Chavez

Manuel Chavez, 75, of Waco, passed Thursday December 28, 2017. Mass of Christian Celebration will be 11am Wed. Jan. 3, 2018 at St. Francis on the Brazos, 315 Jefferson Ave, Waco, TX 76701. The family will receive visitors from 6-8 Tues Jan 2 at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Dr., Waco with a rosary to begin at 7.
Manuel Davila Chavez was born January 26, 1942 to Concepcion and Guadalupe Chavez in La-Bolsa Mexico. He came to the United States in 1968 and worked a variety of jobs. In 1977, he was passing by the VA hospital and saw them replacing the roof. He stopped and asked for a job with no training at all and within two days, he was made foreman. After several months, he decided to open his successful business, C&C roofing. Horse racing was his favorite hobby.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and step-son Frankie Anthony Hurtado.
Manuel is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Mary Almanza; sons, Manuel Chaves Jr. and wife Alejandra, Manuel Chavez III and wife Blanca; daughter, Christina Salinas; step-son John Renee Hurtado; grandchildren, Jairo Chavez, Mireya Chavez, Manuel Chavez Jr, Felix Chavez, Justin Chavez, Andrea Salinas, Robert Salinas Jr, Patricia Salinas, Katarina A. Ramirez, John Alec Hurtado, Felicia Franscisca Hurtado, and Scarlett Paige Hurtado.
