Loyd B. “Preacher” Farney, 85, of Golinda, passed away Tuesday, April 08, 2014. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, April 11, 2014 at Pecan Grove Funeral Home with Rev. Morgan Woodard officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation with his family will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 10, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home.
Loyd was born in Lubbock on March 11, 1928 to Alton and Agnes (Buckner) Farney. He married Edna (Toodie) Blackburn on February 4, 1950. He worked at General Tire from 1953 to 1986. He also farmed and baled hay and took care of cattle all of his life. He was a member and deacon of Golinda Baptist Church, and was on the Golinda City Council.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Toodie; and two sisters, Opal Tucker and Kathryn Radle.
Loyd is survived by his children, Doyle Wayne Farney and wife, Linda, Donna Sue Rohan and husband, Eddy, and Paul David Farney and partner, Bob Brown; grandchildren, Cristie, Stacy and husband, Jason, Shaylene and husband, Lug, Shelli, Pamela Kay, and James; great-grandchildren, Tyler and Brody, Landon, Daniel and David Loyd, Cody and Kevin, Keely, and Dodger; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and many adopted children that they loved dearly.
The family thanks the staff on the fourth floor of St. Catherine’s Center and Providence Hospice.
