Lorene Goetsch

June 23, 1936 — July 10, 2014

Lorene Ivy Goetsch, 78, passed away peacefully at home in Woodway, surrounded by her family on July 10, 2014, following a brief illness. At her request, graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 14, at Oakwood Cemetery, officiated by Pastor Dan Malone of Landmark Baptist Church, where Lorene and Darrell attended church. Visitation will be 2 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, July 13, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Drive.
Lorene and her twin sister Florene were born June 23, 1936 in Carrizo Springs to Johnie and Edna Ivy. Lorene attended school in Carrizo Springs where she met and married Lee Roy McDow on December 17, 1953. Four children were born into this union. Later in life she married Darrell Goetsch on October 1, 1982. They enjoyed many adventures and travels during their 31 years together. On March 3, 1984, they purchased Price’s Flea Market on the circle. Together they ran the market for many years, expanding it to include Price’s Plant Center. Prior to her retirement in 2012, Lorene worked at Providence Hospital for 12 years in Medical Records where she enjoyed preparing birth certificates for all the newborns.
Lorene loved flowers and her request for her service was to be surrounded by lots of beautiful flowers.
Lorene was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Jerald Ivy, Billy Joe Frazier, and Edwin Lott Frazier; sisters, Dorothy Luce and Joyce Porter; grandchild Heath Bradley McDow.
Survivors include husband Darrell, her twin sister, Florene Duggan and husband Guy of Hewitt; sons, Johnie McDow and fiancé Sarah Witte, Eddie McDow and wife Mary, Billy Joe McDow and wife Sherri, all of Waco; daughter, Mary Fowler and husband Milton of San Angelo; lots of nieces and nephews who she considered her other children; special nieces, Traci Thrift and husband Bob, Lisa Burch, Gylene Patterson; nephew David Duggan and wife Stephanie; grandsons, Billy Tynes and wife Cindy, Bradley McDow and wife Anita, Lance Owens and wife Jeana, Tim McDow and wife Holli, Jason McDow and fiancé Amber Bogusch, Nicholas McDow, and Chase McDow; granddaughters, Jennie McClendon and husband Shel, Synda Lorene Bolton and husband Terrance, and Michelle Owens; great-grandchildren, Kadin, Braden, Sydney and Jase; Alex, Adam, and Owen; Christain, Denton and Jude; Caden.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Billy Tynes, Jason McDow, Tim McDow, Lance Owens, Nicholas McDow, Chase McDow, and Bradley McDow.
