Lillie Sandel

January 29, 1937 — April 14, 2017

Lillie Lowry Sandel went home to her Heavenly Father on Friday, April 14, 2017. Services will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, April 20, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Drive, Waco. Burial will follow at Robinson Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be Wednesday, April 19th from 5-7pm.
Lillie was born on January 29, 1937 in Lorena, TX to Arthur Ellis and Callie Ingram Lowry. She graduated from Lorena High School in May 1955 and married Kenneth Sandel on June 4, 1955. The two were married for 59 years until his passing in 2015. She was a majorette in high school and passed her love of baton twirling to her granddaughter, Emily. She was affectionately known as Nana to her granddaughters, Emily and Alyssa. They spent many weekends at her house where she made them the best grilled cheese sandwiches and cinnamon toast. And upon request, she would serve them up a spoonful of icing. She loved singing her favorite song, “A Bushel and a Peck” anytime she was with her granddaughters.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Robinson and worked for Word, Inc. for 28 ½ years. She was involved with the Sul Ross Dance Club, serving on the executive board for over 20 years. She and her husband spent almost every Thursday night at Sul Ross where they were the heart and soul of the club. They loved dancing and spending time with the friends they made there.
Lillie was a woman of faith who put her trust in the Lord and knew one day she would return home to Him. She was a good and faithful servant who was loved by many and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Callie Lowry, husband Kenneth Sandel, sisters Ada Merle Dixon, Allie Brown, brothers Arthur Lowry, Jack Lowry and Lonnie Lowry. Survivors include daughters Darla Lutto and husband Lex, Karla Fore and husband Luther, two precious granddaughters, Emily and Alyssa Fore, whom she adored. She is also survived by her sisters Ann Bryant and Mildred Murphy and husband Chuck, as well as many nieces and nephews.
