Lil Thompson

May 11, 1941 — April 8, 2014

Lillian “Lil” Thompson, 72, of Robinson passed away Tuesday, April 8, in Dallas, Tx. Funeral services will be 10 am, Saturday, Apr. 12, at Pecan Grove F.H. with burial following at Rosemound Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8:00 pm. Friday at Pecan Grove F.H. 3124 Robinson Dr.

Lil was born May 11, 1941 in Waco, Tx. to Dorothy Blackburn and Glenn Custer. She graduated from University High School in 1958. Lil married Shirrell Don Thompson on Sept. 2, 1960 in Waco, Tx. She joined her husband in starting Don’s Hardware in 1979 which serves Robinson & surrounding communities to this day.
Lil was an awesome mother and grandmother, tirelessly serving her family and loving them well. Her grandchildren were her greatest joy in life, and she has left them with many wonderful and fun memories,,,playing in the sand pile, digging up treasure boxes, and cooking pancakes just to name a few.
She is preceded in death by her mother Dorothy Blackburn; father, Glenn Custer; her husband of 46 years, Shirrell Thompson.
She is survived by son; Jeff Thompson and wife Stephanie of Robinson; daughter Cheryl Winker and husband Tim of Carrollton, TX; grandchildren, Cameron, Shelby, Cassy and Spencer Thompson and Andrew and Alex Winker; one sister, Carol Halliday; three nieces and one nephew.
We will miss her very much, but we also rejoice in knowing that she is reunited in heaven with her mother and husband where there are no more tears, or death, or mourning or suffering. She placed her faith in Jesus Christ for her salvation, so we can be certain of her eternal destiny. Jesus told her, "I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never ever die (John 11:25-26)
