Lewis Salazar, 72, of Robinson, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, March 1, 2017. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, March 6, at Victorious Life Church, 7459 S Interstate Hwy 35, Waco, with Pastor Lloyd Zeigler officiating. Burial will follow at Santa Cruz Cemetery, 2400 Renner Road, Waco. The family will receive visitors 5 – 7:00 p.m., Sunday, March 5, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Drive, Waco.
Lewis was born August 20, 1944, to Ynes and Matiana Salazar in Waco, TX. He served in the U. S. Airforce. Lewis married Sarah V. Perez on September 25, 1971. He worked for H.E.B. for 27 years and for Mail Max Direct for five years. He and Sarah were foster parents to Rosie and Felix and foster grandparents to Robert Lee Pineda. Lewis was a faithful husband, committed father, loving grandfather and brought smiles and laughter to everyone who knew him.
Lewis was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Blas Salazar, Felix Salazar, Tim Salazar and Tony Salazar; and sisters, Beatrice Salazar and Kathy Nino Lee.
Lewis is survived by his wife, Sarah P. Salazar; son Luis I. Salazar and his wife Leigh Ann; daughter, Samantha Jo Salazar; granddaughters, Laila and Laci Salazar; mother-in-law Sara Perez; sisters, Faye Mendez and Sally Chavez; special in-laws, Jose and Cynthia Lopez; and numerous nephews, nieces, and brother and sister-in-law, who loved him.
In Lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the Playground and Patio Building Fund at Gospel Lighthouse Church in honor of his granddaughters. Donations can be made at www.lighthousedallas.org under the giving option.
