Our beloved father, Curtis L. Davis, affectionately known as “Leroy” by his family, friends, and associates, passed away on September 7, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. He was 93 years old.
A graveside service will be held at Oakwood Cemetery on Saturday, September 10, 2016, at 1:00 PM, under the direction of Pecan Grove Funeral Home, with the Reverend Doctor Laura Hollinger Odiorne officiating.
Leroy was graduated from Friendship High School, in Friendship, TX. He attended the University of Texas for two years before entering the armed forces. He served in the Navy during WWII as a Radio Operator, on the battleship USS Tennessee. After the war, he attended Baylor University in Waco, TX where he met and married his wife, Julianne Rast Davis who preceded him in death in 2002.
Leroy retired from the United States Post Office where he was employed since 1957. Previous employment included Vaughn Abstract Company, and William Cameron Company.
Leroy is survived by two sons, David Earle Davis, and Brian Curtis Davis, of Waco, TX, a daughter; Deborah Lea Davis of Hot Springs, Arkansas, grandsons Patrick R. Tipps and wife Maija Pietila of Turku, Finland, and Jeffrey Daunis and wife Amy of Tomball, TX, loving son-in-law, Mac Tipps and daughter-in-law, Ann Davis, and five great grandchildren.
