Leroy Becker, 81, of Waco, was a God-fearing man who went home to his loving Lord and Savior on January 12, 2014. Funeral service will be held 10;00 a.m. Thursday ,Jan. 16, 2014 at St. Paul Lutheran Church 1301 Hogan Ln. Bellmead, TX. with Pastor Larry Krueger officiating. Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Pecan Grove F.H. 3124 Robinson Dr.
Leroy Becker born on March 18, 1932 in McGregor, Texas to William and Emily Becker. He proudly served his country in the U.S Navy as Airman First Class aboard the U.S.S. Hornet. He married Shirley Petrich on April 16, 1955 at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Waco, Texas. He retired from the Waco V.A. Medical Center after 42 years of service. He has been a long time member of St Paul Lutheran Church where he has served as an usher and an Elder. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing and doing yard work. He also enjoyed going to any activity that involved his grandkids and great-grandkids. His greatest loves were the Lord, his church and his family. He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Christi Howell. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Shirley; two daughters Phyllis and husband Mike Glockzin, Terri and husband Gary Johnson; a son Brian Becker and wife Tammy; seventeen grandchildren Richard and Andrea Jander, Brad and Jen Jander, Tori and Brian Armstrong, Jason Howell, Jeffrey and Casey Johnson, Carrie and Richard Caldwell, Matthew and Ashley Johnson, Brittany, Meagan, Blake and McKenna Becker; sixteen great-grandchildren Austin Jander, Reid and Ella Jander, William and Zachary Armstrong, David and Abigail Howell, Ethan Johnson, Bailey and Brenner Dunigan, Cammie, Corrin, Cullen and Camrie Caldwell, Faith and Ezra Johnson. He is also survived by his brothers Walter Becker and wife Gladys, Marvin and wife Imogene and a sister Evelyn Sommerfeld and husband Wes; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Honorary pallbearers are the St. Paul Fishing Club, St Paul Golf Club, St Paul Thursday morning Grasshoppers and his beloved grandsons.
