Services for Leola Maurice Haigood, 79, of Lacy Lakeview, TX will be held Saturday, November 23, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Dr. with Rev. Ernest Thompson and Rev. Don Washek officiating, interment will follow at the Robinson Cemetery.
Mrs. Haigood died at home Sunday morning, November 17, 2013 after battling a long term illness. Maurice, as she was known to friends and family, was born March 30, 1934 to Estus and Leola (Meadows) Shoemake in New Augusta, Perry County, Mississippi. She Married Raymond Haigood on June 22, 1996. She retired from Kroeger’s Grocery as a cake decorator, but spent most of her life as a Homemaker and mother, crafter, and gardener.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Estus and Leola Shoemake, her husband Raymond Haigood, and one brother Warren (Buddy) Shoemake.
She is survived by one brother, John Michael Shoemake of Houston, TX; four Children, Frank D. (Don) Washek, Jr. and his wife Dianna of Temple, TX; Rebecca (Becky) E. Diefenderfer and her husband Richard (Rick) of Joshua, TX; Raymond E. Washek and his wife Yolanda of San Antonio, TX; Gail Lynch and her husband Donnie of Waco,TX; ten grandchildren; twelve great- grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
The family wishes to express their gratitude for the compassionate and professional care given our mother by the personnel of Bluebonnet Hospice and Tina Smith, C.N.A..
