Larry Edwin Nix, Sr., 72, of Robinson, TX, passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2021. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 10, at Rosemound Cemetery, 3201 S 12th St, Waco, TX, with Pastor Derek Nease officiating. The family will receive visitors from 6 – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 9, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Drive, Waco.
Larry was born March 13, 1948, in Waco, TX, to Edwin and Pauline Dabney Nix. He married Patricia “Patty” Barkley in 1966. Larry was a true family man. He, his children and grandchildren loved hunting and fishing together as often as they could. He also coached for Lake Air and Robinson little leagues for 20 years. Larry came from a family of musicians. He started playing professionally as a teenager locally, and later on the road. He passed that love of music on to his own children. Larry was in many bands, including the Muddcatts, a Beatles and Elvis tribute band and CC Top, a ZZ Top tribute band, with both his sons and they performed throughout Texas and the United States.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; and his siblings, Rose Taylor, Danny Nix and Michael Nix.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 55 years, Patty Nix; his sons, Larry Nix, Jr. and wife Kelly; and Mark Nix and wife Regina; grandchildren, Ryan Nix and wife Ashley; and Hailey Nix; two great-grandchildren, Kaison Davis and Knox Davis; nieces and nephews, Lisa Harry and husband Adam and their children, Jacob and Shelby; Todd Taylor and wife Joann and their children, John and Micheal; Robin Nix and Laura Massey and their daughter, Nevaeh; Bob Barkley, Troy Barkley, Daniel Barkley, and Carmen Sartor; along with many other family members and friends.
