Kenneth Sandel went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Friday, February 20th, 2015. Services will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, February 24th at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Dr. in Waco. Burial will follow at the Robinson Cemetery. Visitation with family and friends will be from 5-7 pm on Monday, February 23rd at Pecan Grove Funeral Home. Kenneth was born May 23, 1934, in Bruceville, Texas to Madge Davis. He graduated from Bruceville Eddy High School in 1953. While there he was captain of the football team and was even noted as the “football hero” in his high school annual. He also attended 4-C College. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Robinson.
He worked for Langford Motor Co. in Marlin. He served in the US Army from 1956 to 1958 and was stationed in Germany. He was employed for Word Inc. for 17 years and was owner of Professional Account Recovery Service. He was President of the Sul Ross Senior Dance Club, serving on the Executive Board for several years. He and Lillie, his wife of 59 years, spent almost every Thursday night at Sul Ross for over 20 years. They were the heart and soul of the club. He was always enthusiastic, cheerful and made everyone feel special. They loved dancing and spending time with the friends they made at Sul Ross. He also took great pride in caring for his yard. He had endless energy and a positive attitude. He was a huge basketball fan and for many years was a college basketball referee. His family enjoyed his creative storytelling, silly magic tricks and funny jokes. He was loved by many and will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by his mother, Madge Davis Bine, brother, Robert Davis, step-father Doug Bine, step-mother Nell Bine, grandparents, Budlow and Bessie Davis and several aunts and uncles.
Survivors include his wife, Lillie Sandel, daughter Darla Lutto and her husband Lex Lutto of San Antonio, TX, daughter Karla Fore and her husband Luther Fore of Lorena. He is also survived by two precious granddaughters, Emily and Alyssa Fore, whom he adored. Other survivors include Joycee Davis and her husband Tom Davis of Big Springs, TX, Michael Leuschner of Big Springs, TX, Jerry Peacock and his wife Nelavon Peacock, and Terry Peacock and his wife Blanca Peacock.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Robinson Youth Fund.
