Kenneth Carlton "Coach" Beverly, 84, of Hewitt, Texas passed away peacefully on Friday, December 30, 2016. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 4, 2017, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Drive, Waco, with Dr. Cary Killough officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors 6 – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 3, at the funeral home.
Ken was born July 30, 1932 to Carroll and Ima Beverly in Killeen, Texas. Ken graduated from Gatesville High School in 1949. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He spent a year stationed in Korea. When he returned, he married Bobbie Mullen in September of 1955. He attended Tarleton State University and Southwest Texas State University where he received his Bachelor's degree in May 1957. His first coaching job was in Bruni, Texas in 1957. He coached at Rogers ISD from 1958 - 1963, Robinson ISD from 1963 - 1970 and finally Midway from 1970 - 1990. He retired from Midway in 1990. Since his retirement, his has farmed and raised cattle on the family farm in Gatesville, Texas.
Kenneth is survived by his 3 sons: Barry Beverly of Crane, Texas, Butch Beverly and companion Teresa Williams of DeKalb, Texas, Keith Beverly and wife Pam of Gholson, Texas. He is also survived by 6 grand-daughters: Taysha Beverly Martin, Toya Beverly, Ty Beverly, Heather Beverly, Wendy Magee, and LaTisha Sheets; 6 adorable great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Bobbie; grandson Aron Beverly; sister, Norma Beverly Benningfield and brother Lanny Beverly.
The family would like to thank the amazing staff at both Wesley Woods and Providence Hospice Place at St. Catherine Center, Cindy Frazier and the Midway High School Class of 1977.
Pallbearers will be Craig Stephenson, Ty Harrington, Keith Green, Butch Maddux, Jerry Bruce, and Bubba Athey.
Honorary Pallbearers are Donna Jageler, Randy Haines, Mark Haines, and Janet Kay
The family will have a gathering at the VFW, 725 Sun Valley Blvd. in Hewitt after the service for all friends and family that would like to attend.
