Kay Lynn Galvan (Lynn), 56 of Waco, TX passed away peacefully with her family by her side, October 24, 2017. Lynn was born in Ardmore, OK on October 25, 1960. She was a 1983 graduate of OU and was proud to be a Sooner. On May 11, 1996, she married Victor Galvan of Dallas, TX.
After spending 20 years as Regional Manager and Trainer for the Casual Corner women’s apparel store, she became a stay-at-home mom when our daughter Selena was born in 1999. As she was volunteering with an after school program, she started researching and writing grants for non-profit agencies and that became her second career. She was very involved at Legacy Church Plano TX where she volunteered with the children’s ministry, led Life Groups and helped facilitate the annual women’s gathering called ‘Shine’. Her vision for Shine was to highlight women with inspiring stories that would encourage others to shine in their daily encounters. Lynn’s daily walks became her own ministry as she used the time to develop relationships with others. She was involved in the Komen 3 Day Walk for several years in a row to raise money for prevention of breast cancer.
Preceding her in death was her mother, Sondra Dorr Newsom and aunt Kay Dorr Novello.
Survivors include her husband Victor, a daughter Selena; a sister Michelle LaFontain and a brother Steve Beck.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, October 28, 2017, at First Woodway Baptist Church, 101 Ritchie Rd, Woodway, TX, with Rev. Ryan Hairston officiating.
Memorials may be made to Cancer Support Community North Texas at cancersupporttexas.org
