Katherine Mefford

Katherine “Sammie” Mefford of Eddy passed away early Tuesday morning, January 17, 2017, at the age of 89. Graveside services and interment will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday, January 19, 2017, at Bruceville-Moore Cemetery, 540 S. Old Bruceville Road, Bruceville, with Rev. Lisa Meador officiating.
Mrs. Mefford was born July 9, 1927, in Vivian, Louisiana, the daughter of the late Calvin and Eva Mae (Lake) Waldrop. In 1946, she graduated from Gladewater High School and married William T. Mefford September 13, 1946, in Longview, Texas.
Much of her life was spent in the insurance business as an executive secretary. Throughout her life, her family and dogs were everything to her.
Also preceding her in death was a sister, Jean Talley.
Survivors include her husband, William T. Mefford; a son William Gene Mefford; a daughter, Velma Irene Martin; four grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, two great great-grandchildren and her two fur babies.
