Karen graduated from Richfield High School in 1972 and earned a bachelors degree from Stephen F. Austin College in Nacogdoches, Texas. She earned certifications in insurance claims adjusting and worked for several insurance companies before retiring as a worker compensation adjuster.
Karen enjoyed just about any outdoor activity. She met her husband David through the Waco Singles Group playing volleyball and running 5K, 10K, 50+ mile runs, triathlons and bicycle rides like “Hotter’n Hell 100” out of Wichita Falls and other places around Texas and numerous other states. After Karen and David married in November of 1991 they took up water skiing and taught many young people to ski. Then added snow skiing in the Rocky Mountains and Canada. And of course she always had wonderful cats and dogs to be entertained by. They started raising Tennessee Walking Horses and enjoyed many trail rides around Texas. Karen and David rode BMW and Harley Davidson motorcycles across 17 states. She was happy when she could take out her BMW Z4 convertible “Fast Car” and give rides to any kids or dogs who wanted a ride. In 2018 David and Karen purchased a motorhome and traveled in 10 states before she could no longer travel.
Karen took a great interest in music and self-taught and took lessons for many years from local music instructors. She learned to play the mandolin, several types of acoustic guitars, electric guitar, piano, key board and finally violin. She was most happy to play with her Cotton Pickers Band and Barn Band Buddies.
Karen had a special love and bond for the “kids” in her life and devoted much time to sharing life lessons and FUN with them including her music, biking, hiking, camping, sightseeing and just hanging out! She lived life to the fullest, she ran to the end of every trail, rode to the end of every road because you never knew when that may be the start to a new adventure.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Roger and Karl Fedro, sister-in-law Kay Fedro, and nephew Robert Fedro.
She lives in the memories of her husband David, twin brother Mike Fedro and wife Peggy, sister-in-law Jackie Fedro, special cousin Gail Anglum, stepson Robert Bohac, granddaughter Ashley Kubiak, grandson Justin Hermis and all who called her “MiMi” which includes a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends along with her furry best friends Sammy and Emma.
