Joyce Watson

Joyce Marie Black Watson passed away Thursday, June 15, 2017 in her home. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 17, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Drive, Waco, with Pastor Keith Blanton officiating. Burial will follow at Riesel Cemetery, Riesel, TX. The family will receive visitors from 5 – 7:00 p.m., Friday, June 16, at the funeral home.
Joyce was born in Lamb County, Texas, on June 16, 1933, to Dolphus Manard Black and Louise Augusta Lueck Black. She married the love of her life, Lonnie Watson, on June 17, 1950, and had two children. She was a very dedicated church member at Lakeside and previously at Williams Creek Baptist Church. She was also very dedicated to her work with Friends for Life, where she still worked part-time.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Houston Alonzo “Lonnie” Watson; her parents; her brother, Clyde Willis Black; a nephew, Doyle Alan Black; and her sister, Helen Josephine Howell.
Joyce is survived by a son, Jerry D. Watson, of Italy; daughter, Debra J. Witt, of Canyon Lake; sister-in-law, Colleen Black; along with many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
