Joy Thornburg

Joy Thornburg, age 61, of Robinson, Texas, passed away peacefully on May 12th, 2024, with family and friends by her side. Joy was born on August 23rd, 1962 in Salina Kansas to Bryan and Dorothy Thornburg. In her lifetime, Joy lived up to her name and brought great joy to everyone who crossed her path.  Born with Down Syndrome she taught her family great lessons about empathy, compassion and understanding. Joy’s parents worked very hard to give Joy the tools to learn everything she became capable of accomplishing. Joy competed in many Special Olympics – nothing beat watching her compete and relish the experience regardless of the outcome. She also competed on several Waco bowling teams for many years. Joy especially enjoyed traveling with family and church groups every chance she got. On her travels Joy saw most of the United States. She was an avid Baylor Bears fan and loved watching the Lady Bears play every chance she got. There are no words to show the gratitude and appreciation for all that was done for her by friends, family, and church families that loved her over the years.
