Joy Nugent Cranfill Sanders, 79, of Burnet passed away, Saturday, October 3, 2015 in Georgetown. A graveside service will be held at 1pm Wednesday October 7th at Oakwood Cemetery in Waco. Family will receive visitors 30 minutes prior to service at the cemetery. Services are under the direction of Pecan Grove Funeral Home in Waco.
Joy was born on January 31, 1936 to John Henry and Mattie Nugent in Waco, Texas. She was a resident of the Waco area the majority of her life. She spent many years as a preacher’s wife, working with youth groups and college ministries. Joy was a member of Harris Creek Baptist Church in Waco. She worked with and retired from Reed’s Floral. Joy was also involved in childcare and was known for making and handing out Jesus bookmarks.
Joy is preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Joe Cranfill; son, George Cranfill; and husband, David Sanders.
Joy is survived by her daughter, Nancy Cranfill; sister, Doretha Nieman; special niece and nephew, Melissa Turner and Chris Nieman; very special friends, Pat and Terry Aslin; plus several other nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, Joy wished for donations to be made to St. Jude’s Hospital or the charity of your choice.
