Joe Gosselin, 77, passed away peacefully in his home on October 4, 2022, surrounded by his family, after a long battle with Lewy body dementia.
Joe was born October 25, 1944, to William O. and Billie (Rowe) Gosselin. He graduated from Central High School in Superior, Wisconsin in 1962. He joined the U.S. Army the same year and discharged in 1965. He married Shirley Duhr in November 1965 and started working for the U.S. Post Office that same year. Joe spent the next 27 years working in vehicle maintenance and retired as the supervisor of the Waco branch. At this same time, he successfully raised, bred and showed Brahman cattle. After retirement, he began raising greyhound dogs which competed in numerous tracks across the southern US.
He loved life and took great pleasure in his family, friends, cattle and dogs. He enjoyed working on projects with his family in his shop and on the farm. Although he would never admit to knowing much about anything, Joe was an accomplished mechanic who could fix just about everything. He also enjoyed watching his grandsons play sports. His warmth, kindness and ingenuity will be missed by all.
Joe is survived by his wife of 56 years, Shirley Gosselin; his son, Scott Gosselin, and daughter, Dr. Cheryl Kay and husband Scott; 3 grandsons: Traylor Gosselin (and wife Amy), Baxter Kay, and Brady Kay; several nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law: Linda Gosselin, Darlene Carlson (Alan), and Patricia Falcone (Mike); and brother-in-law, Larry Amundson.
He is preceded in death by his father, William Gosselin; his mother, Billie Lee Thompson; his brother, Terry Gosselin; and his sister, Pat Amundson.
Per Joe’s request, no memorial service will be held. Friends and family may leave a message using the online guestbook at www.pecangrovefuneral.com. Donations can be made to Community Health Care of Texas – Providence Hospice.
