Johnnie Gilmore

Johnnie Wilbur Gilmore, 90, of Golinda, passed away at a local hospice facility, Monday, June 15, 2015. A graveside service will be 10 am, Tuesday, June 23, at Valley Mills Cemetery with Pastor Morgan Woodard officiating. The family will receive visitors, Friday, June 19, from 2-4 pm at Pecan Grove Funeral Home 3124 Robinson Dr.
Johnnie was born, December 17, 1924, in Coryell County, to J.D. and Sadie Gilmore. He served in the 17th, 82nd, and 101st Airborne, during World War II. He received several medals, but most dear to him was the bronze Star and The American Theater Campaign Ribbon. After the military, he worked and retired with General Tire after 37 years of dedicated service.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Nita Gilmore.
He is survived by his wife, Myrle Gilmore; sons, Roland Gilmore and fiancé, Janet Bryant and Gary Gilmore; grandchildren, Lisa Gilmore Walters and husband, Jeff, Misti Gilmore, Sarah Gilmore, Jason Farmer and wife, Dianna, Shannon Guderian and wife, Pam, Kelli Leduc and husband, Shawn and Ashley Ferguson and husband, Kenneth; several great- grandchildren and extended family.
