John Rosas passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Friday, December 26, 2014. A funeral mass will be held Monday, December 29 at 1:00 pm at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Father Benjie will officiate. Burial will follow at Billington Cemetery in Limestone County. Visitation will be Sunday, December 28 from 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Dr. A rosary service will follow the visitation at 7:00 pm.
John was born on July 14, 1935 in Mosheim, TX to Miguel and Susana Rosas. He attended Waco High School, TSTC and Baylor University. John served in the US Army from 1957 to 1960, where he received several awards. He worked at the City of Waco as a computer operator before working 22 years at TSTC as a computer operator. In January 1998, John retired from TSTC and on December 28, 1991, he married Ollie Joyce Argabright. After retiring, John and Joyce began raising birds. John always loved to work outside and on cars and other equipment. He worked on anything he could find. John was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and two sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce of Mart; his sons, Gary Rosas of Dallas and Gavin Rosas of Waco; his daughters, Gina Rosas and husband Danny of Fairfield, Grace Shaw and husband Ben of Waco, and Ginger Santos of Waco; three sisters, Anselma Arispe of Waco, Marina Tenorio of Waco, and Mary Lopez and husband, Tommy of Waco; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. John is also survived by Jed and Glenice Whitaker of Gilmer and Randall and Bonnie Argabright of Gilmer.
