John Mack Robinson, 82, of Waco, passed away, Thursday, July, 31, 2014 at a local hospital. A graveside service will be held 12:30 pm, Monday, August 4, 2014, at Moody Cemetery, with Don Scott officiating. The family will receive visitors, Sunday, August 3, from 6-8 pm at Pecan Grove Funeral Home 3124 Robinson Dr.
John was born, July 16, 1932, in Pendleton, Texas to Lester and Velma Robinson. He was the youngest son of 6 children, and attended the Moody and Troy area schools. John served in the Navy from 1951 to 1955 on the USS LAKE CHAMPLAIN CVA 39. He received the National Defense Service Medal. He worked as a bricklayer for over 40 years and was known for the masonry on the Freedom Fountain and the retaining wall along Waco’s Riverwalk. His hobbies were wood carving, music, gardening and building/repairing things in his work shop. John’s pride and joys were his children and grandchildren and will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, his beloved wife Edna Robinson and 5 siblings.
He is survived by his children, John Robinson and wife, Kim, William Robinson and Ella Cameron; grandchildren, Sandy, Ty, Chelsea, Cody, J.T., Brook, Halee and Harlee; great-grandchildren, Hayden and Jack; he also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Debra Kay McCormick, staff at Hillcrest 4 South Wing, Wesley Woods Bluebonnet Wing, and Providence 4 East Wing, for their excellent care of their father.
