John Ernest Kuretsch, 74, passed away Monday, Sept. 23, 2013, at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston. Funeral services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Riesel, TX, Thursday September 26, at 2 pm, with Rev. Robert Kitson officiating. Burial to follow at, Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-7 pm at Pecan Grove F.H. 3124 Robinson Dr. John was born in Otto, Texas on Jan 7, 1939 to Paul and Mabel Finn Kuretsch. The family moved to Riesel in 1941. He started school in Long Beach, Ca. where his father was stationed in the Navy. John served in the Army 4th AO Combat Engineers from May 1957 until May 1959 and served 4 years with the 873rd Construction Engineers with the Army Reserve. He was employed by Central Texas Iron Works for 26 years and his own business, Kurco, until his retirement. He married Sharon Dumalski Williams in Riesel on May 27, 1961 and celebrated 52 years of marriage this year. They enjoyed dancing and all the wonderful friends they met in Waco and Temple. John’s hobby was collecting/ working on and restoring old tractors and had over 20 in various stages of “disrepair”.
He is survived by his wife Sharon, daughter Kari Wolske and husband Clint and four grandchildren Stefan, Haylee, Hunter and John Wyatt all of Robinson, one brother Willard and wife Shirley of Crawford , two sisters Margaret Abel and husband Erwin and Carolyn Fleischhauer, brothers-in-laws Dave Dumalski and wife Michele and Steve Dumalski and wife Patti all of California and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Robert Doty, Stefan and Hunter Wolske, Mike Abel, Jerry Bayer and Mark Fleischhauer.
Honorary Pallbearers are Haylee Wolske, John Wyatt Wolske, and his friends at the 6 am coffee group at Cefco in Mart.
