Joe “JD” Provazek, 84, of China Spring passed away peacefully on Sunday, Dec. 13, 2015 surrounded by family in his home. Funeral services will be 10am, Wednesday, Dec 16 at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Dr, Waco. Interment to follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Tuesday, Dec. 15, 5-6 pm with the Rosary immediately following from 6-7pm at the funeral home.
Joe was born on May 15, 1931 to Charlie and Anna Provazek in Cameron. He was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church and the SPJST. Joe managed the barber shop at the VA hospital for 30 years before retiring. Upon retirement he continued to barber at the local nursing homes. He loved Czech music and dancing every Saturday night. Joe was an avid fisherman who lived on the Brazos River. Most importantly he was a dedicated daddy, grandpa, and great grandpa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Anna Provazek; his wife, Ethel; brother, Willie Provazek; and sister, Tillie Buffington.
Joe is survived by his daughter, Teresa Spivey and husband Steve; grandchildren, Jonathan Spivey and wife Chelsea, Shannon Tiner and husband Carl; great-grandchildren, Wyatt Spivey and Karter Rose Tiner; brother, Adolf Provazek; sisters, Dorothy Alexander and Bertha Kubacek.
The family would like to give special thanks to Providence Hospice and the 24 hour nurses, Amber, Rachel, Rebecca, and Douglas.
