Jo Betsy Brown Talak, 86, of Golinda, passed away peacefully Wednesday, February 4, 2015. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 9, at First Baptist Church of Golinda, Pastor Morgan Woodard officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, February 8, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Drive, Waco.
Jo Betsy was born December 11, 1928, in Plainview, Texas to William and Cora Belle Graham. For 72 years she shared her gift of God’s music with family and friends playing the piano for countless weddings, funerals and revivals. She served the Lord as a pianist for several churches including Third Street Baptist, Beverly Hills Baptist, Alice Avenue Baptist and First Baptist Church of Golinda. For over 30 years she was a member of First Baptist Church of Golinda. Jo Betsy was a giving person that loved her family and was a friend to everyone. She was a prayer warrior. Jo Betsy was loved by all and will be greatly missed.
Jo Betsy is survived by her two sons, Curtis Maurice Brown, Jr. and wife Debbie, Ronnie D. Brown and wife Charlotte, and daughter, Jamie Smith and husband Ray; grandchildren, James Curtis Brown and wife Stacy, Joe Bob Brown, Brent Brown and wife Jennifer, B.J. Brown and wife Lauren, Kristi Sisk and husband Brad, Kelly Hughes, Stacy Lynch and husband Brad, and Chris McCurdy; great-grandchildren, Curtis Dale, Crystal, Sammi Jo, Jessica, Thurman, Cole, Kenzie, Cadie, Kobe, Colt, Dawson, Shane, Caylee, Ava, Charis, Madison, Cade, Cali-Jo, and Evan; as well as numerous great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Family was important to Jo Betsy and she left for Heaven reminding them to always live for the Lord and love one another.
Pallbearers will be James Curtis Brown, Joe Bob Brown, Brent Brown, Brian Jeffrey Brown, Curtis Dale Brown, Joseph Thurman Brown, Chris McCurdy and Cole Hughes. Honorary pallbearers will be Kobe Sisk, Brad Sisk, Dawson Brown, Shane Brown, Colt Kilgo and the Deacons of the First Baptist Church of Golinda which include Herschel Gamble, Jerry Alsip, Johnny Schraeder, Stanley Birkes, Bob Mackie, Bill Van Cleave and David Whatley.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Providence Hospice for their excellent care.
