November 21, 1942 — May 12, 2014

Jimmie Lee Smith, 71, of Waco passed away peacefully on Monday, May 12, at a local nursing facility. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at 11:00 am at Robinson Cemetery, 620 E. Stegall Rd., Robinson, TX 76706 with Rev. Roy Marshall of First Baptist Church of Hewitt officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 pm on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Drive, Waco, TX.
Jimmie was born in San Angelo, TX on November 21, 1942 to Leo Rufus and Opal Jo Smith. He served in the U.S. Army from 1959 - 1962. He worked for 7-up Bottling Co. for about 4 years before beginning his lifelong work as an insulator for 42 years , (35 years with CIC Chaparal Insulation). He was a Master Mason 32 degree of A&A Scottish Rite of Free Masonry, SJ, USA since 1969 and a Lifetime member of VFW.
He married his Beautiful wife Gloria on February 28, 1967 in Waco, TX. They shared 47 years together. Jimmie was a devoted Husband, Father and Grandfather who loved his family very much. He had a great passion for the Study of Archaeology and Reptiles. He also enjoyed his occasional game of dominos with his Good Buddies. He is survived by his wife, Gloria; Daughters, Pamela and Misti of Speegleville, TX, granddaughters Kali and Lauren,great grandson, Riley and his sister, Dixie Harrison of Shelby, N.C..
He was preceded in death by his parents Leo Rufus & Opal Jo Smith. Honorary pallbearers: Billy Joe Akins, Johnny Binder, Ronnie Davis, Jim Gallien, Gary Hatfield & Bobby Odom.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, American Parkinson’s Disease Association or First Baptist Church of Hewitt.
