Jessie Esther Adams

August 30, 1934 — December 5, 2024

Jessie Esther YALE Adams, age 90, of Eddy, TX, passed away on December 5, 2024. She had been on hospice care for 3 months.

Jessie was born on August 30, 1934 to James Bertram Yale and Esther JAMES Yale in Houston, Tx. Jessie attended Southmayde Elementary, Deady Jr. High, and Charles H. Milby Sr. High School, as did 4 of her children.

Approximately 1948-49, Jessie met Robert (Bob) Virgil Adams at a local skating rink. They were married in 1950.

Jessie was a young mother of 1 while her husband was in Germany during the Korean War. And once home from the service, over time they increased their family size to 5-children.

She was very proud of all of her children: Robert Virgil Adams II, VickiSue ADAMS Kaechler and husband Richard Charles Kaechler, James Alver (AL) Yale Adams, Barbara Carol ADAMS McCellon, and Stephen Wayne Adams

Her Grand-children: Robert Virgil Adams, III (Trey) and wife Andraea Adams, Victoria Lynn KAECHLER Kirkpatrick, and husband Rusty Kirkpatrick, Jason Curtis Kaechler, and wife Manami KOCHO Kaechler, Shea Adams and fiancee David Nicholous Holdridge, James Lewis (JL) McCellon Jr. and wife Halie Austin, Daniel Alver McCellon, Randall Bertram McCellon and partner Ryan Romero, and Stephen Ray Adams and fiancee Emily Sage Pineda

And her Great-grandchildren: Jesse Buehler ADAMS James, Michael Blay Adams, McKayla Michele Adams, Serenity Jade McCellon, Willow Raelin McCellon, Jacob Austin, Jacklin Austin, and Wilder Pineda Adams.

And her Great-Great-grand-children: Xander Lane Heise & Nova June James.

Everyone knows how much Jessie enjoyed her many Beautiful Hats! I think Jessie would agree that one could relate them to the variety of relationships and experiences she embraced during her lifetime. She was indeed, a Woman of Many Hats! Jessie was not only Mother and Grandparent, she enjoyed multiple professional endeavors as well!

She was employed as a Shipping and Receiving Secretary, Manager for Cardinal Printing and Letter Service, Installation and Management for Blackbird Copy Centers, Test Supervisor, and Software Engineer for Xerox Corporation. One of Jessie’s proudest accomplishments was achieving the title for the 1st Female Software Engineer for the Xerox Corporation’s Personal Computer Division on the Research and Development Team at their Dallas & Lewisville, Texas offices.

Her Self Employment Endeavors included: Artificial Floral Maker & Designer, Seamstress, Toy & Doll Maker, Co/Owner/Manager of a Cocktail Bar. After Jessie retired from the Xerox Corporation she started her own business and began working independent contracts as a Software Technical Writer for multiple companies.

Her first Technical Writing contract was a huge personal success! One that necessitated her own private ‘victory dance’ in the parking lot!

After Jessie retired, for the second time, she continued to do the things she loved. She was raised by a professional Seamstress who taught her well. All throughout her life Jessie designed and made clothing for all of her children, nieces and nephews, as well as many beautiful suits and dresses for herself. Jessie always loved ‘glitz’ and it was on full display in her personally designed wardrobe! As well as clothing, Jessie made and sold floral arrangements, jewelry, plush toys, purses, hats, etc. She was, indeed, an artist her entire life. There was always a project in progress!

Jessie was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Bertram Yale - 1986, her husband, Robert V. Adams Sr. - 1999, her son Stephen Wayne Adams - 1993, her brother James Sheldon Yale - 2009, her sisters, Shirley Marie YALE Henderson - 2009, and Nancy Lee YALE Moore - 2000.

Jessie, herself was surprised at her own longevity. From her own knowledge of her family, she had lived longer than anyone in recent memory. After reviewing her ancestors it was found that in the last 282 years, no other direct line ancestors had reached the age of 90.

Jessie spent many years, both in childhood and as an adult, listening to and researching various religious teachings. At age 79, after already having experienced a very full life, she had the great happiness of becoming one of Jehovah's Witnesses, serving in the Hewitt Congregation. In that one decision, Jessie found a peace that lasted the remainder of her life. She both loved and was loved by the members of her congregation.

Jessie's kindness, tenderness, and shooting from the hip approach to life made her the wonderful, loving Daughter, Wife, Mother, Grandparent, and Friend that she was. We will all miss her greatly!

The Family encourages everyone to share their stories, pictures, prayers and memories of Jessie in the “Guestbook” section of her Obituary on the Pecan Grove Funeral Home website! We sincerely look forward to reading them.
