Jennings Clinton Nehring, 85, long-time resident of Rosenthal, went “two-stepping” Thursday night, came home, went to bed, and woke up in the arms of Jesus on Friday, January 22, 2016. He went peacefully, just like he had hoped…

Interment will follow at the Rosenthal Cemetery, which until the early 1950’s, adjoined the Rosenthal Methodist Church. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, January 26th, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home.
Jennings Clinton Nehring, aka “JC”, Dad, Gran-gran, Gran-dad, was born April 30, 1930, in Dawson, Texas, to Milford Fred and Geneva Bumpers Nehring. He moved to the Rosenthal community in 1944, graduating from Waco Tech in 1949. He married Floyce Nell Madewell on June 23, 1949, at the Rosenthal Methodist Church and they celebrated over 62 years of marriage.
Jennings’ life was farming, however, he also worked as a machinist and at General Tire. He loved solving hand-held puzzles and he could design/engineer and fix anything. In his earlier years, he enjoyed the annual hog killing in the late fall; gardening; raising cattle; riding horses; high school football, basketball, and baseball games; girls’ softball games; camping; fishing; skiing; square dancing, just to name a few. In his “senior” years, he loved picking up and shelling his pecans, riding his jet ski on Lake Waco and he didn’t miss many community gospel singings, nor many “senior” dances at Sul Ross, Tom Sefcik, Geneva or Linden Halls. He loved buying new Ford vehicles and talking the ears off of anyone! He was a member of the Mooreville United Methodist Church, but you might find him in any church service. He was teased about sometimes even being Baptist or a Cowboy! He was faithful at visiting his long-time friend, Boots Courtney, in a Temple nursing home, always taking him Dr. Pepper’s and bananas! He loved the Lord, his family and friends and will surely be missed.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Floyce Nell; parents, Milford and Geneva Nehring; sister, Maedelle Goar, and nephew, Mike Goar.
He is survived by daughter Sharon and husband, Dan Powers, Red Oak; daughter, Sandra Salas, California; great niece he raised, Robbyn Ellender, North Carolina; grandsons Kris Stephens (Mary), Jeremy Powers (Lacey), Red Oak; granddaughters Sherilyn Herger (John) of California; and Erikka Nichols; great grandchildren: Robert Walton; Rodney Stephens; Phoebe Wall; Gage Blowers; Valley Kate, Judah West and Wickham Levi Powers; John Kaelen & Story Ann Herger; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the youth program @ Bethel Methodist Church, 104 S Old Robinson Rd, Robinson, TX 76706.
