Janis Faye Hill

Janis Faye Pledger Hill, 82, of Waco passed away peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her family on Sunday, May 12, 2024. Services will be at 10:00 am, Saturday, May 18 at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Drive, Waco, with Zach Johnigan officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Friday, May 17, from 6 – 8 pm, at the funeral home.

Janis was born October 6,1941 in Waco, Texas to LaVerne and Elmer Pledger.  She grew up and lived her entire life in the Waco area.  She was married for 65 years to the love of her life, Edwin D Hill.  Known for her unconditional love of family and friends, she and Ed attended hundreds of football, baseball, basketball, softball, and various other athletic events, watching and cheering on their kids and grandchildren. She was also considered to be a second “mom” to many kids, either from associations through church youth groups or friends of family members.  She loved camping, vacationing, and playing games with family and friends. Oh, and let’s not forget she loved talking on the phone.

Ed and Janis owned and operated Christi’s Hamburgers in Bellmead for many years before passing the reins over to their youngest daughter, Christi.  Janis loved visiting with her customers and knew what each would order as soon as they walked in the door.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Jim and LaVerne Rogers, and her father, Elmer Pledger.

She is survived by her husband, Edwin Hill; daughter, Janna and husband, David Morrow; son, Jeff and wife, Christina Hill; daughter, Christi and husband, Ernie Gerik; son, Ronnie and wife, Anne Herrin; sister, Glenda Sue and husband, Steve James; sister, Penny Capps; sister, Jimmie and husband, Robert Hahn; grandchildren: Samantha Allison, McKenzee Gerik, Lindsey Hamm, Brooke Hamm, Parker Hamm, Zach Morrow and wife, Kailyn, Tyler Hill and wife Jill, Jacob Hill, Jennifer Herrin Booker and Joe Herrin; great-grandchildren; Bryson, Carmen, Brinley, Bristol, Keaton, Paisley, Aaron, Ella, Chandler and Emerson and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

The family would like to recognize and give thanks to our special families, staff of Brookdale Senior Living Facility and our Halcyon hospice nurses, they have all truly been our angels on earth.
