Janey Ruth Spikes

Janey Ruth Vinzant Spikes, age 92, of Waco, Texas, passed away on April 17, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 24, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Drive, Waco, with Pastor Mickey Fugitt officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5 – 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 23, at the funeral home.

Janey was born on January 16, 1932, in Limestone County, Texas. She graduated from Groesbeck High School in 1949. Janey married Harmon Spikes Jr. on June 7, 1952, in Thornton, TX. They moved to Moody, TX in 1989 where they attended First Baptist Church. She was very family oriented, loved cooking, sewing, and crochet. She was always happy to have a full house of family and friends. 
 
 Janey is survived by her loving children, Ronald Spikes and wife Caline, Robert Keith Spikes, and wife Mandy; Judy Cleghorn, Brenda McGee, and husband Tommy; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harmon Spikes Jr., her parents, Burl Columbus and Lottie Steele Vinzant, and siblings, Lorraine Sadler, John Vinzant, Lewis Vinzant, Fleta Gopffarth, and Burl C. Vinzant.

The family would like to thank Wesley Woods Rehabilitation and Healthcare and Amedisys Hospice for their loving care and compassion.
