Janet Knox, a longtime energetic McGregor resident, passed away peacefully with her family by her side Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2017, at the age of 64. A memorial celebration of her life will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, 2017, at Zion Lutheran Church, 503 S. Tyler St., McGregor with Pastor Chris Farrow officiating.
Janet was born December 16, 1952, in Clifton, Texas the daughter of James Fletcher and Anna Mae (Jeske) Rogers. In 1971, Janet graduated from McGregor High School where she played the Clarinet in the Bulldog Band, participated in student council, one act play, and Future Homemakers of America. She continued her education at Texas Lutheran College and Baylor University. An active member of Zion Lutheran Church, Janet volunteered as long as her health permitted in many aspects of the church. She helped feed the homeless in Waco, served on the church council, was a member of the Rebekah Circle, and participated in Luther League and Vacation Bible School.
On September 20, 1974, she married Danny Knox in McGregor. To this union two children were born, Chris and Amy. She was director of telephone services at Baylor University. Janet enjoyed life and was always full of laughter. She enjoyed antiquing and flower gardening. Through the years, she met with a close net group of women who spent a lot of time enjoying life and relaxing at Lake Buchanan. She also enjoyed working at Baylor Football games spending quality time with her family.
Preceding her in death was her father, James Rogers.
Survivors include her mother Anna Mae Rogers; her husband, Danny Knox; a son Chris Knox and wife Shelbie; a daughter, Amy Knox and husband J.R. Ramirez; a brother Pat Rogers and wife Amy; a sister Martha Rogers Therell; grandchildren, Madison Knox, Emma Knox, Kane Ramirez, Nadia Ramirez and many nieces and nephews.
Urn bearer will be Chris Farrow.
