Crawford

Jana Hood, 79, of Crawford, Texas passed away on December 18, 2024.

A memorial celebration of life will be held after the first of the year in the Waco Area.

Jana was born on July 10, 1945 to Raymond James Harrington and Maxine Smith Harrington. In her earlier years Jana was a realtor in Arizona which helped her to work her way through nursing school where she was licensed as a Registered Nurse. She worked in several nursing positions but ultimately retired as the Director of Nursing for the Arizona State Prison System.

Jana was a dedicated breeder of American Cocker Spaniels for approximately 40 years. She started with Parti Sables then moved onto mostly tri-color and red and white Parti’s. Jana loved attending dogs shows, showing her own dogs and loved talking to all her friends at the shows. She was very supportive of other exhibitors and took pleasure in meeting newcomers and giving them a hand. She would arrive early for the shows and stay late and would know all the news by the end of the day.

Jana moved to Texas in June of 2010 where she lived with or near Dena and Randy York for the remainder of her life. The 3 of them showed dogs together for around 8 years. Jana enjoyed spending time with Dena and Randy’s children and grandchildren. Attending birthday parties and holiday celebrations.

Jana married the love of her life Robert “Rob” Hood January 7, 1985 in Chandler, Arizona where together they enjoyed traveling, trying to get lucky in the Casinos and raising/breeding cocker spaniels until his death in 1994.

Jana is preceded in death by her husband Robert Hood and her parents Jim Harrington and Maxine Harrington.

Jana is survived by her beloved dogs and some of her best friends she thought of as family: Susan Roeber, Dena and Randy York and their 4 children and 7 grandchildren as well as Dena’s sister Melissa Oliver.

In lieu of flowers, send donations to Our Hospice House in Temple or American Spaniel Club Foundation.
