Jan Wayne Roberts

Jan Wayne Roberts, formerly of Robinson, passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at his home in Rockport, Texas. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 26, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, with the Rev. Duane Hoxworth officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 25, at the funeral home.

Wayne was born on October 20, 1940, in Sweetwater, Texas, the son of Wayne Lilburn and Teresa Marie (Blackwell) Roberts. He attended University and Waco High Schools, and 4C Business College. He married Frances Charlene Wood, his high school sweetheart, in Waco on May 19, 1962. They were blessed with over 52 years of marriage before Charlene went to be with the Lord on October 18, 2014. Wayne retired from Central Freight Lines after over 38 years of dedicated service, for which he received many honors, and where he developed many lasting friendships. While living in Robinson, he was an active member of First Baptist Church of Lorena, the Buddies Sunday School class, and the Young at Heart fellowship group. Wayne was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend who dedicated his life to providing for his family and helping others, always willing to lend a hand.

Preceding Wayne in death were his loving wife, Charlene; his parents; brother-in-law, Jim Wood; nephew, Mike Wood; and his devoted Dachshunds, Oscar and Sugar.

Wayne is survived by his son, Jeff Roberts and wife Ronnie of Sweetwater, Tennessee; and his daughters, Tracey Greene and husband Gary of Moody, Texas, and Laurie Weldy and husband Brad of Rockport, Texas. He also is survived by his beloved grandchildren, Christopher, Richard, and Jared Roberts; Stephanie Greene Brueggeman and husband Colin; Sarah Greene; Heather Horton and husband Casey; and Emily Weldy; and by his precious great-granddaughter, Caydi Horton. Wayne also is survived by his brother-in-law, Richard Wood and wife Marilyn; two nephews and one niece.

The family wishes to express a heartfelt thanks to Paepaeuli “Gina” Carroll for her loving and diligent care of Wayne; Dr. Ernest Alsop; Dr. Tarun Madappa; and Mike and Manny of Apria Healthcare.

Pallbearers will be Gary Greene, Brad Weldy, Richard Roberts, Jared Roberts, Colin Brueggeman, Casey Horton, and Richard Wood. Honorary pallbearer will be Jon Wood.
