James McMahan

April 24, 1936 — October 13, 2016

James David McMahan, age 80, of Waco, Texas passed away Thursday, October 13, 2016. A graveside celebration of life service, officiated by Rev. Alec Ylitalo, will be held Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at 10:00 am at Rosemound Cemetery, 3201 S. 12th Street , in Waco, Texas.
He was born on April 24, 1936 in Abbott, Texas to Robert and Bula Abbie McMahan.
David graduated from Baylor University in 1958. He proudly served in the US Army before being honorably discharged as a sergeant in 1962. Throughout his life, he worked in accounting and management, but the fondest years of his career were spent at Diesel Power Supply, where he made many life-long friends. David had a very competitive spirit and enjoyed golfing. He was an avid fan of all Baylor sports, rarely missing a game. He had a deep love for his church family at Richfield Christian Church, where he served as elder, and deacon and chaired numerous committees. He enjoyed Monday morning “critiques” of the sermon with his baby sister, Linda. He married his beloved Patricia, May 6, 1986. They spent many joyous years together. David loved her four daughters as his own.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Patricia; stepdaughters Vickie Rountree and Deborha Pershing; and his brother Donald McMahan.
He is survived by stepdaughters, Susan Houck and husband Keith of Waco, Texas and Toni Rainer of Tuscon, Arizona; brother, Robert McMahan and wife Dorothy of Waco, Texas; sisters Marie French of Missouri City, Texas, Nancy Anderson of Richmond, Texas and Linda Tusa and husband Van of Waco, Texas; numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at St. Catherine's Center and to Providence Hospice for their loving care.
