James Huff

September 17, 1949 — August 8, 2023

James Huff went peacefully into the arms of Jesus on August 8, 2023. A visitation and celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, August 17 from 6-8:00 p.m. at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Dr., Waco. Military honors will be rendered promptly at 6:00 p.m.

James was born September 17, 1949 to Virgil Landel Huff Sr. and Mary Blagg Huff Channon. James loved sports in high school and held records at Robinson High School for many, many years. After high school James proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, where he reached the rank of Sergeant. He then served many years as a Deputy for the McLennan County Sheriff’s Department until his retirement. The things he loved most were his family, his pups and golf. He was one of a kind.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

James is survived by his brother, Virgil L. Huff Jr. and wife Glenda; sister, Elizabeth Pryor; nieces, Vicki Vincent and husband Shane, Mitzie Barrington and husband Berry; nephews, James Hammack and wife Michelle, David Hammack and wife Casey; along with many great-nieces and great-nephews.

James will be greatly missed, but knowing he is healed, with family and his best friends playing a round of golf, brings joy.

But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds; declares the Lord. Jeremiah 30:17.
