James Campton Harris, 72, of Mart passed away Sunday, February 10, 2019. Funeral services will be 1:00pm Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Dr., Waco with Billy Joe Lambert officiating. The family will receive visitors from 6:00-8:00pm, Friday, February 15, 2019 at the funeral home.
James was born September 17, 1946 to Frank and Ella Mae Harris in Bonham, Texas. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. It was an honor for him to serve his country. James married Nelda Sue Wooten on August 3, 1970, they were blessed with two sons and a daughter, which were their whole world. James was a hard worker all his life. He was in the Millwright business for many years. He then worked for the City of Mart for 17 years and retired from Wells Cargo. James was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his son, Dwayne; parents, Frank and Ella Mae Harris; brother, Hershal Harris; and sister, Judy Adams.
James is survived by his wife of 48 years, Nelda Sue; son, Thomas Harris and wife Tracy of Marlin; daughter, Shanda Robinson and husband Timothy of Robinson; grandchildren, Amber, Tyler, T.J., Shasta, Ryan, Gwen, and Eddie; great-grandchildren, Kason, Klaire, and Lane; sisters, Mary Sharp and husband Charlie of Lubbock, Elizabeth Harris of Stephenville, Ruthy Shelton of Colorado; brothers, Bill Harris of Stephenville, Leland Harris of Lubbock; along with many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the EMT’s, Chief Cardenas, Officer Steiner, and Trevor Baize of Mart for going above and beyond to help during our time of need.
