James Flippin

James Gary Flippin, 73 of Robinson passed away Friday, August 15, 2014. Graveside services will be 11:00 am Saturday, August 23 at Eastlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Brownwood, Texas. Visitation with the family will be 5 to 7 pm Thursday, August 21, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home.
James was born March 30, 1941 in Harrison, Arkansas to parents James and Duff Flippin. James graduated from high school in Yellville, Arkansas. Following graduation James joined the United States Air Force. While stationed in Texas he met Judy Carriger. They were married in Brownwood, Texas on January 20, 1961. After the Air Force, James returned to Arkansas where he received his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Central Arkansas. James worked for the US Department of Veterans Affairs. He retired in December of 1999 with a combined 36 years of service to the Air Force and the Waco VA Regional Office.
James enjoyed playing sports and coached in many youth sports leagues. His favorite color was anything red – in honor of his beloved Arkansas Razorbacks. His true joy was his family, especially being Grandad. James is preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Jimmie and Mary Jo Flippin.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife, Judy Flippin; sons, James Flippin, Jr. and Jerald Flippin and wife, Polly; sister, Sylvia Ann Phillips and husband, Doyle; grandchildren, Jessica Herrera, Crystal Neville, Matthew Flippin, Zachary and Mason Flippin; great-grandchildren, Alexis Herrera, Konnor and Caleb Neville, nieces Vicky Robison and Leslie Phillips along with several great nieces and nephews, and extended family members and friends.
