James Ray Campbell, 80, of Waco, passed Saturday June 16, 2018. Funeral services will be held 10am Tuesday June 19, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Dr. Waco, with Cyd Collins officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors from 6-8 pm, Monday June 18, at the funeral home.
James was born January 9, 1938 to Edward Ray and Lena Belle Campbell in Ellis County, Texas. He married Bonnie Eudoris in 1956, in Waco, Texas. James worked as a Waco Police Officer in the 60’s and 70’s and served on the bomb squad. After leaving the force, he managed Yowells’ Boat Yard until early 2000. He was a longtime rancher and farmer in Riesel, Texas. James was a jack of all trades who could restore tractors, or handle most anything involving carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and engines of all types. He was an avid fisherman and boatsman who loved camping with family and friends in Belton, Texas.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward Ray and Lena Belle Campbell; and brothers, Walter Campbell and Donald Campbell.
James Ray is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie Eudoris Campbell; brother, Jack Campbell and wife Sherry of Riesel; daughters, Raelene Ott and husband Steve of Abbott, Tarvah Wernette and husband Paul of Riesel; grandchildren; Justin Campbell and wife Ashlee of Grand Forks, North Dakota, Joshua Ott of Abbott, Jacob Ott of Abbott, Waylon Wernette and wife Karri of San Angelo, and Tania Crow and husband Joshua of Waco, as well as six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Justin Campbell, Josh Ott, Jacob Ott, Josh Crow, Waylon Wernette, and Tania Crow. Honorary bearers will be Akadian Campbell, Brent Sims, Steve Ott, and Paul Wernette.
