James Donald Braun, 85, of Lorena passed away Tuesday, November 11, 2014 in Waco.
The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Wednesday, November 12 at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Dr. A graveside service will be Thursday, November 13 at 1pm at Cottonwood Cemetery.
James was born in the Cottonwood community January 4, 1929 to Adolph and Laura (Purczinsky) Braun. He graduated from Lorena High School in 1946. James worked for MKT Railroad as a brakeman and conductor for many years. In his later years, he worked as the regional manager for United Bankers Life Insurance Company. After retirement, James attended Baylor University’s seminary school. He enjoyed ministering to others and served as the Chaplain at the McLennan County Jail and was also involved in other public ministries.
James was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his son, Richard Braun and wife Teresa; wife Rosa Linda Braun; grandchildren, Lori Boyett, Jennifer Crosslin and Meredith Heffner; and 6 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Central Texas, www.humanesocietycentraltexas.org.
