Emmuel Jakie "Jake" Roberts, Jr., 73, of Speegleville, passed away Saturday, December 27, 2014, at his home. Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Wednesday, December 31, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Dr., Waco. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, December 30, at the funeral home.
Jake was born April 28, 1941 in Waco, Texas to Emmuel Jakie Roberts, Sr. and Theo Geneva Roberts. He was a longtime business man who owned and operated Crow & Roberts Body Shop since 1970 with longtime friend and partner Don Crow, who preceded Jake in death in 1990. Jake was a member of the Masonic Lodge #92, Scottish Rite and York Rite and past potentate and life time member of Karem Shrine. He is also a member of Parkview Baptist Church. Jake will always be remembered for his love for his family and friends, his humor and a willingness to always help others.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother.
Jake is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn; pet companion, Casper; daughters, Kim Walts and husband, Jimmy and Lisa Sparks and husband, Bill, all of Speegleville; four grandchildren, Brandon Walts, Brittany Garcia and husband, Nic, Stephanie Crosby and husband, Daniel, and Austin Sparks and girlfriend, Tiffany; two great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Crosby and Brycen Garcia; sister, Patricia Lewis and husband, Jim; and brother, Kenneth Roberts and companion, Jodie Richwine.Pallbearers will be Jimmy Walts, Bill Sparks, Brandon Walts, Daniel Crosby, Austin Sparks and Nic Garcia.
Jake's family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Bond Browder, nurses Missy and Katrina, Dr. Rodney Brown and nurse Rita for the exceptional care provided to Jake over the years.
