Jackie Eugene Harris, 86, of Robinson passed away peaceably in his sleep early Saturday morning, March 15th, 2014. Services will be 1 pm Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at Pecan Grove Funeral Home 3124 Robinson Dr. Burial will follow at Crawford Cemetery. The family will receive visitors, Monday, March 17, from 6-8 pm at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Ruby Darleen Matthys Harris, an infant son Kevin Bryan Harris, his father Gilbert Turner Harris, mother Mae Belle Jackson Harris and brother, Billy Charles Harris.
He leaves behind, two sons, Ronald Wayne Harris with wife, Deana Maree Harris of Round Rock, Texas Stephen Randall Harris with wife Alice Morgan Harris of Robinson, Texas and one daughter Pamela Darleen Harris Casey with husband Robert Casey of Spring, Texas. Grandchildren include Monica Marler, Amanda Casey, Moriah Saenz, Robert Casey, Melissa Dumesnil, and Michael Hassell.
His surviving siblings are brothers Bruce Harris and Bobby Harris of Waco, Texas and sisters Doris Luckie and Carol Robinson of Austin, Texas and Martha Gill Troy, Texas.
Jackie loved to play dominoes and you could always find him at St. Matthews Lutheran Church on New Road every Tuesday. He also enjoyed all the attention he got from the early morning wait staff at Georges’ on Speight and Denny’s on IH35. He could get his biscuits and gravy and hash browns to start out his day.
Jackie and Ruby loved to travel with the Heart of Texas Holiday Rambler Travel Club. They loved going to rallies both local and national. Parking a travel trailer was a piece of cake for Jackie because of his over thirty years of experience with eighteen wheelers for Central Freight.
Jackie and Ruby were charter members of Robinson Drive United Methodist Church in Robinson, Texas. The family would like to thank Rev. Linda Wimberley her comfort and support.
His family would like to express their deepest appreciation to the people of Senior Care of Hewitt and Providence Hospital and Hospice staff for making his last days as comfortable as possible.
