Jackie Crane

July 10, 1935 — August 20, 2022

Jackie "Jack" Allen Crane, 87, passed away Saturday, Aug 20, 2022, after an extended illness. A visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 3rd at Pecan Grove Funeral Home with memorial service to immediately follow at 11 a.m.

Jack was born July 10, 1935, to Leonard Halbert Crane and Evelyn Borchardt Crane in Mesquite, Texas. Jack had one brother, Jerry Thomas Crane, who died in a childhood accident. After overcoming polio as a child, Jack grew up an active student and went on to graduate as class president for Mesquite High School in 1955. After high school, he married Joan Clancy and briefly attended Arlington State College (now UT Arlington) before joining the US Air National Guard. He remained in Mesquite among many extended family and friends before moving to Waco in 1968 to be terminal manager for Roadway Express. The family settled in Robinson, where his children attended school. After a career in the freight business, he worked with new car dealerships for over 25 years, most notably Steakley Chevrolet/Honda, Marstaller Motors and Frank Weaver Pontiac.

He and wife Joan raised three kids and he was active in school and extracurricular activities including school trips, daughters' pageants and Boy Scouts. He served as District Commissioner for the Boy Scouts of America. He also served as a scoutmaster at Beacon Hill Baptist Church along with Harley Gordon. He was a Mason and a Shriner for numerous years.

In 1981, he married Wanda Catherine Cureton, with whom he remained for the rest of his life. He enjoyed painting, auto sports and social media and was active in Richfield Christian Church. He leaves behind numerous friends and adopted family there.

He is survived by wife Catherine, daughter Keri Crane Williams and husband Steve, son Russell Crane, daughter Kathi Crane Mason and husband Stan, Catherine's children, daughter Karen Fredrich, son Jay Fredrich and wife Debra, daughter Cathy Cureton Martin and husband Jerry, grandchildren Lindsey Williams Behm and husband Chris Behm, Whitney Williams, Tim Mason and wife Debbie, and Makenzie Mason Williams and husband Gavin. He also leaves seven great-grandchildren.

Memorials made be made in Jackie's name to Richfield Christian Church, 4201 Cobbs Dr. Waco, Texas 76710.
