Jack Wesley Haltom Jr.

Jack Wesley Haltom, Jr., “Wes”, was born on December 11, 1947 to Jack and Frances Haltom in Cleveland, Texas. He was the oldest of four siblings. He departed this earth on Friday, August 2, 2024. 

Wes grew up in Pearland, Texas, south of Houston. During high school he competed in multiple sports and graduated in 1967. Shortly after graduation he enlisted, along with his younger brother, Glenn, in the United States Army. He served two tours in Vietnam. During his time he earned several distinctions. Upon his return to the states, he was stationed in Pennsylvania, where he met the love of his life, Cynthia Simpson “Cindy”, on a blind date. After a brief courtship, they married on October 11, 1969. 

After his time in the army, Wes and Cindy moved to Friendswood, Texas and welcomed their first daughter Audra in 1971. Wes went to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and then AT&T until his retirement. In 1976, they welcomed their second daughter, Laura, and moved to Mexia, Texas, where they lived until the death of Cindy in 2006. 

Wes is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Glenn Haltom, and his beloved wife, Cindy. He leaves behind his daughter, Audra Bley and her husband Bill, along with her two children, Triston and Jessica Pickens as well as his daughter, Laura Veselka and her husband Mark, their daughter Allyson Bowers and son, Louis Veselka. Wes is also survived by his sister Sherry Noak and his sister Rita Simms and her husband Jerry along with their children and grandchildren. 

There will be a visitation for Wes at Pecan Grove Funeral Home in Robinson, Texas on Thursday, August 8 at 12:30 PM followed by a memorial service at 1:00 PM and a brief graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery in Waco, Texas.
