October 15, 1927, Marvin and Emilie Corley welcomed a little 4 pound preemie into their home and hearts. Marvin gave up many of his handkerchiefs to make diapers for his tiny human. She was named Ivy Ruth Corley. Eventually she became a big sister to a set of twins, Garland and Orlando. Orlando died at birth. Seven years later little sister Wilma (Corley) White rounded out the family. Ruth was raised in Foreston, Texas and moved to Waco when she was fourteen. She attended North Junior and Waco High. After High school she worked at Southwestern Bell as a local telephone operator. One afternoon as she was enjoying lunch at a diner on AUSTIN Ave., Ruth saw a handsome young man (Royce Ingersoll) with black hair home from the Marine CORPS IN WWII. One date led to another and two years later they were married. After a couple of years, the newlyweds moved to Dallas where he joined the Dallas Police Dept. During this time they added a baby girl to their family, Sharon Ingersoll. An in-depth Bible study, lead to Royce becoming a preacher. Shortly, they added another daughter, Brenda Ingersoll to the family. Ruth was a full time preacher’s wife for fifty nine years. Her home was open twenty four seven to friends who stopped by for a cup of coffee, parents needing comfort over a wayward child, holding hands with a grieving, or planning showers to celebrate a coming marriage or birth of a child. She made clothes for herself and her daughters. She could stretch one dollar to do the work of three. She took food to the sick and shared with the less fortunate. She was hospitable in her home and the foyer of the church building welcoming new friends. She was a wonderful wife, daughter, sister, mother and Christian woman.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Marvin Corley and Emmie Ellen Tucker Corley, her brother, Garland Corley, and her husband Royce Lee Ingersoll.
